Yesterday I decided to check out Raven Rocks trail. I read about the trail somewhere, but didn't have much information except that it was on Pine Grove Rd. in Bluemont, and that it was 5.5 miles round trip with a great view. Well, turns out I needed to plan things a bit better. This particular trail wasn't marked at all, so we had no idea if we were at the right trail head. I had to call my brother and ask him to look up exact directions to the trail head. Once I was confident we were at the right place, I was a little worried that we were heading down instead of up. This time, I had to call another friend for trail description. Turns out it starts with a decent down a ridge and then goes up for 1500ft elevation gain. The trail is quite rocky and unremarkable, as they generally are on the East coast. The view at the end was quite nice tho. Plus, we were able to see a hint of color. Probably in couple weeks the colors will be at its peak. Can't wait.
Cool pictures Diana.
ReplyDeleteLike the leaves turning color, that's the neat thing about the East Coast.
Too bad your trip to Seattle got canx.
Let me know when you'll be over my way again next.
Jaime.
