I have these friends with this huge, lake front house up in Connecticut that they were just dying to make better use of so I helped them out by making a visit. Even though I was there for a very short time, it felt like a mini-vacation. My friend took me on a little eco-tour around the lake on his kayak. We saw some wild life and also enjoyed the gorgeous weather along with the beautiful colors of fall. A good portion of the ride was spent chasing geese across the lake. I was trying to get some good take-off photos but it didn't quite work out.
After the kayak ride, we made a stop at the local Belgian chocolatier... yum. I indulged a bit, but was apalled at the price. I think the mark-up was quite high. A quarter pound (or roughly 100 grams) of chocolates was $17. I think I got a pound of chocolates for that price when I was in Belgium.
The next stop was Kent Falls State Park to check out the waterfalls. The falls were cascading, but went up quite high. We did a short walk up to the top and around the park.
The final activity of the day was a three hour hike on the Appalachian Trail to a beautiful viewpoint. My camera doesn't do the colors any justice, and it wasn't quite peak, but it has just been beautiful everywhere today. The day ended with fresh fish for dinner and a relaxing evening home. On Sunday, I had plans to meet up with couple of friends in New York City before heading home, so it was a really great weekend. The only problem was getting back into the groove on Monday morning....
